Zambia's new coach Dario Bonetti has told the BBC that his new job is 'a wonderful challenge'.

The Italian, 48, took over the role on Monday, along with his three assistants - who include his brother Ivano.

Bonetti, who won two caps for Italy as a player, declared his main ambition was to qualify the Chipolopolo for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations.

"We have great talent and I think it's a wonderful challenge for me," he told the BBC's Fast Track programme.

"The experience in this great country [is what has attracted me] - Zambia has good players so I foresee great results."

Bonetti knows that expectations among Zambian fans are high following Chipolopolo's success in reaching the quarter-finals of the 2010 Nations Cup in Angola - but he has called for a cautious approach.

"It will depend on the quality of our work and many other things," Bonetti added.

"The right mentality in football is not to think too far - it's better to take it step-by-step, match after match."

He said he was relishing the pressure of managing the national side.

"I chose this work because I like the pressure and my life has been full of that because I played for a long time - pressure is part of my life," Bonetti stated.

"This is the fourth country I will be working in and for me, adapting shouldn't be a problem."

Bonetti's first game will be a friendly away to Uganda on 11 August followed by a home Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against the Comoros Islands in September.

Is Esther ready for Ali?

After a convincing win against Duda Yankovich of Brazil maybe its time to call Ali's daughter Laila.
No fighter has yet tested Esther as she now holds more than 5 interconental belts to herself. Esther may need to improve her technic and protect her face more, but we believe that now is the time to call Laila Ali out of her maternity leave and into the ring to face Zambia's raging bull Esther. Does Laila have the courage? contact us.......

Zampeople world cup update

Bring back KK11 away with Chipolopolo.

It's obvious that The Zambia National Team are missing something. Actually, they are missing everything. We dont have a stadium, we dont have strikers, the players use over sized kit without even there names at the back. And lastly, we abuse the name Chipolopolo when no one in the team can find the back of the net.

If the late national team where watching us from the sky, they would be deeply disapointed with what we as a nation have become.

Faz, has a president who would rather organise his expensive wedding and fail to delegate duties that would ensure players are correctly kitted, informed, and have visa's for the places they are to travel.

We have a good coach who has decided to stay and help us even though he has recieved better offers from better teams and how did we repay him?....by giving him a list of names on paper and asking him to form a street team that we hope can take us to the world cup...I used to think Joseph in the bible was a dreamer, but not until i heard of FAZ. They are dreamers.

We are a country without a stadium, without a team and without a Football governing body. All we do is talk the talk. We believe what we see in the papers. No ground work, no sacrifice. Just paper talk. We are way passed intensive care. We are a dead Lion. We look scary, but we cant bite. We are living on passed glory. The glory that was brought by KK11. its been over 2 decades and we are still dreaming.
The truth is, we are still in a trauma. We have never recovered from what we lost. We lost the greatest team ever. We lost men that where not just a team but a family. We lost the pride of Zambia. And alongside that loss, FAZ died too.

What we need to do is go back where we started from. We need to find players with that passion, players who will die a little. Not street boys who dye there hair and spend there nights in Bars. We need men who are committed to what they do and are willing to put country before club.
The government needs to go into schools and colleges and support football programmes from the grass roots. Instead stealing money from the sick and buying 100 herses, they should look at building Football staduims, football picthes in all compounds, towns and schools and draw up as many football programmes with uncompromised support.

They need to go to the Universities and encourage the students to participate because I personally belive that you can pick a squad from CBU and UNZA that will beat the national team on any given Sunday. (I am willing to put my money where my mouth is).
Then finally, FAZ has failed. What new thing have they done ever since 1989? Nothing. They cant even televise our league matches, better yet find sponsors for the teams. They are over fed broilers that are fit for the pot. I wonder why we picked KALU isntead of Hannif Addams. Kalu is a great man. He has acccomplished alot. But we must understand that he is a business man. He doesnt even reside in Zambia. How can he help us?
Lets wake up. Chipolopolo was a name picked for winners. It was picked for players that score goals. For a team that easily finds the net. And this team is doing the exact opposite. Always blaming the referrees. Always having excuses.
Lets have a complete change. Lets go back to the KK11 days. Lets use that name again. Let FAZ come out in the open and apologise for wasting our time and money. And if they are really believe in change, let them step down and give someone who is not looking for a fat cheque to take home but some one who is looking to re-build and re-brand this milleniums KK11.
